Chenrezig Empowerment and Teachings
Suggested Donation: members $40, non-members $50, no one will be turned away.

Participants will learn the different levels of transformative experiences of consciousness according to the four Tantric schools. In particular, the teaching will explain in detail:

- the methods of transformation, and
- the actualizing of transformative experience
Accordingly, this introduction will serve as a foundation for understanding and practice of all different Tantric deities.
- Second session: Chenrezig empowerment: Chenrezig, the deity of compassion, is the embodiment of the Buddha’s compassion. Chenrezig practice helps us bring our own compassion to higher levels. In the empowerment, the potentiality or seed for successful practice is transmitted from the teacher to the student and the student makes a formal commitment to the practice.
- Third session: Detailed instruction including question/answer on the Chenrizig practice manual we will be using at The Nalanda Institute.

Dharma Talk: Freeing oneself from attachment
Suggested Donation: members $10, non-members $15, no one will be turned away.
Our habitual attitude of attachment and clinging to objects, thoughts, ideas, values, life events, and people is the fundamental source of dissatisfaction and unhappiness in our daily life. For Dharma practitioners and spiritual seekers in particular, failure to reduce or break attachments and clinging causes stagnation in the transformative processes and the realization of truth. Khenpo Lungrik Senge Rinpoche will elaborate this theme based on the rare “lojong” (mind training) teaching entitled: "Freeing From the Cycle of Attachments”. This teaching not only provides an inspiring foundation for spiritual practice but also covers all essential practices of all Buddhist schools.

Chenrezig Meditation Practice
No Chenrezig Practice on OCT 18th
The Nalanda Institute is happy to announce that we will now provide Chenrezig meditation on Saturday mornings at the Vietnamese Temple, just like Thursday practice. Lama Lungrik, our resident monk will lead the Chenrezig practice. Senior members may assist.
This will be essentially the same Chenrezig practice we have been doing on the fourth Thursdays for the past few years, although we have a new text. For those unfamiliar, Chenrezig is the Bodhisattva of Compassion. He symbolizes and embodies the compassionate wish to free all beings from suffering and the causes of suffering and to provide happiness and the causes of happiness. Doing Chenrezig practice is fundamentally for the purpose of stimulating and developing your own compassionate thoughts and actions.
Please join us on Saturdays whenever possible, no prerequisites or requirements needed. However, for those that want to move more deeply into this practice, it is recommended that they receive an empowerment. This is a transmission of the seed or potentiality of the practice from a fully qualified lama to the student. It will enable the full ripening of this practice. A Chenrezig empowerment will be offered on Oct 25, 2008 in Olympia.
