Fri March 18, 7 to 9 PM Buddha Nature - Your Innate Potential for Enlightenment
The term Buddha Nature (Tathagatagarbha) means all living beings possess the essence of enlightenment as the primordial basis of their mental continuum. The talk will help us recognize our enlightenment qualities and rediscover them within our mental continuum. This topic is based on classical sutras within the category of the third (final) turning wheel of the dharma.
Sat March 19, 9:00 to 12:00 AM Buddha Nature in Depth
Because of the importance of this topic, Tibetan and Indian scholars had many interpretations and debates on this subject. Dr. Ngawang Jorden, PhD will present a comprehensive explanation of these different views.
Sat March 19, 1:30 to 4:30 PM Buddhist Psychology and the Nature of Phenomena
Human experience is based on the interaction of perception, emotion, thought and a sense self and other. Dr. Jorden will discuss the Buddhist view of these basic elements of existence and explain how they are the basis of transformation or purification in both Tantric and Sutra teachings. This topic includes the important Buddhist philosophical concepts of the five aggregates (skandha), the twelve conditions (ayatana), and the eighteen constituents (dhatu).
Sun March 20, 9 to 12:00 AM Union of Wisdom And Compassion in Daily Life
Dr. Jorden’s final talk will show how the previous topic provide a foundation for understanding key concepts and developing a balanced daily practice that integrates both wisdom and compassion.
Brief Biography of Lama Ngawang Jorden
Lama Ngawang Jorden is an outstanding Tibetan Buddhist scholar with a Ph D. from Harvard University and Geshe (advanced) degree from Sakya Monastic College, India. Dr. Ngawang Jorden is currently a professor at the University of Chigaco and is a visiting professor at International Buddhist Academy (IBA) in Nepal. Lama Jorden entered the monastic life at an early age, mastered complete monastic ritual performances and became an accomplished chanting master. He is also currently committed in two cultural preservation efforts: Construction of a Library at the Sakya College and Restoration of Ta-Nag Monastery, in Tibet.

Take the main Olympia exit – City Center, State Capital.
Follow off-ramps to State Capital.
Follow exit through a “tunnel” to Capital Way (will see Capital across street).
Turn right on Capital, go to 22nd Ave.
Turn right on 22nd, go two blocks to the Coach House.
A restored “coach house” adjacent to the State Capital Museum.
