Sunday, October 6, 2024 Information

In December, Lisa and Jami brought their friends Kelly (human) and Bodhi (canine) to help cover the power of pets in stress management.  Bodhi tried to demonstrate "nose work" - you had to be there.  We learned about 4 core strategies for stress management, including attention centering, expressive-creative strategies, reflective exploration, and healthy lifestyle pillars.

The January 5 session on physical activity emphasized ways of incorporating physical activity into our daily lives, and the many health benefits that can follow.  The main goal is to keep living the life we aim for and enjoy.  It's never too late to start, and any amount is helpful: move more, sit less!  We talked about how to improve our endurance, flexibility, balance, and strength, including setting realistic goals that are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely).

The February discussion on sleep helped me to realize that as a retiree, I can think of sleep as my full-time job: 9pm to 5am, every day.  Well, not EVERY day, but almost!  Again, I'm setting realistic goals that are SMART: specific, measurable (by my watch), achievable, realistic, and timely.

The March program, COMMUNITY & SPIRITUALITY, included this PowerPoint presentation for you to download.
